On March 22, 2023, at the École nationale d’administration publique, the Observatoire sur la réussite en enseignement supérieur officially launched its activities and underlined the publication of its thematic dossier entitled Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI): At the Heart of Student Success.

The event brought together college and university stakeholders, including administrators, professional staff and researchers. Some 100 people attended the event on site, in addition to being present at the networking cocktail reception, while nearly 200 people took part in the virtual broadcast. On this occasion, ORES welcomed a number of distinguished guests, including the President of the Université du Québec, Alexandre Cloutier, and the Deputy Minister of the ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur, Paule De Blois.

An Inspiring Roundtable

ORES held a roundtable entitled Testifying to the Diversity of Student Experiences. Moderated by Françoise Guénette, the roundtable featured Florence Khoriaty (Florence K), Adrian Monthony, Aly Ndiaye (Webster) and Anna-Corine St-Gelais Awashish. They spoke with sensitivity about the difficulties and successes they experienced during their educational pathways. The audience heard four stories that embodied a diversity of varying successes, and that remind us of the importance of reflecting and acting for the inclusion of all students.

An Accessible Web Platform

The launch was the opportunity to present ORES’ new Web platform, which makes the content produced more accessible. The oresquebec.ca website contains articles, dossiers and other relevant tools that leverage and popularize scientific and experiential knowledge, echoing the concerns of the higher education sector.

By providing tools to college and university teams, the Observatory hopes to help identify the best strategies and implement the most effective measures for developing the full potential of every student.

In this way, ORES wishes to participate in the mission of higher education within society: to contribute to a world where every individual can learn, grow and achieve their full potential
