The Observatoire sur la réussite en enseignement supérieur (ORES) is proud to present its first Annual Activity Report! The year 2022-2023 was an opportunity for the ORES to position itself as a recognized reference and a meeting place for higher education stakeholders. The projects developed have allowed achieving the Observatory’s vision: to be a vehicle for positive change, with the success of all students taking centre stage.

ORES would like to thank all partners and collaborators who have contributed to this successful year. Enjoy your reading!

Key Actions in 2022-2023

The Creation of the Observatory

In 2022, the Consortium d’animation sur la persévérance et la réussite en enseignement supérieur (CAPRES) was mandated to set up an observatory on student success. By continuing the activities of the CAPRES, ORES has been able to benefit from nearly 20 years of expertise. The year 2022-2023 was significantly marked by transition: namely the development of an enhanced service offering, a change in the organization’s identity and the creation of an expanded team.

Promising Projects to Leverage Knowledge

The achievements of the past year have enabled us to further leverage knowledge derived from research findings and practice. Several new projects were developed, including:

  • a dynamic, user-friendly Web platform, including a directory of inspiring practices;
  • a new publication: Relais, the popular scientific journal on success in higher education;
  • an updated information monitoring model.

Courses of Action for College and University Teams

A new offering was added to ORES’ content. The team now proposes resources to support higher education stakeholders in their reflection and decision-making.

  • Development of a knowledge mobilization and transfer model, which forms the basis for the production of visual tools and activities.
  • Updating of the thematic dossier template with the integration of courses of action and the addition of the Prospectives section.

A Space for Exchange

The Observatory aims to propose content that reflects the concerns of the higher education sector. It also wishes to encourage exchanges among postsecondary institutions. The year 2022-2023 was an opportunity to share ideas with partners as well as to build new relationships.

  • Participation in over 90 meetings with partners and organizations, and in more than 60 events (symposia, conferences, workshops, etc.).
  • Launch of the Observatory’s activities, attended by nearly 300 people.

In 2023-2024, ORES intends to continue its activities around its three main lines of action:

INFORM

Summarize, explain and share the most up-to-date knowledge on success in higher education.

UNITE

Foster enriching interdisciplinary exchanges among and between postsecondary institutions.

ENGAGE

Promote the adoption of the best strategies and the implementation of the most effective measures for students to develop their full potential.
